Soapbox: The colour of money
In the latest Soapbox, Heidi-Lynn Mitchell, a product services director at Computacenter, examines the opportunities for employees who want to turn their organisations ‘green’:
“Procurement professionals have an opportunity to lead their organisations in understanding the environmental impact and the lifecycle cost of their IT equipment. A cheap PC might look good on the balance sheet to start with, but over time its running costs will greatly exceed that of a pricier but more efficient piece of kit.”
But how easy is it for those in procurement to alter the buying habits of a large organisation? Can such change only be effected if departments work together?
