Fair trade?
This week (and next), if you haven’t seen it mentioned, is fair trade fortnight.
Buyers can play a big role in the uptake of "fair trade" items from suppliers. Sales of "fair trade goods" passed the £500 million mark in 2007.
Is buying "fair trade" products the answer to developing suppliers in poorer nations? Or is it simply a marketing exercise to make firms displaying "fair trade" credentials loook good?
