Hearing voices

This story on the BBC website reveals formulas for the “perfect voice” and why humans come to identify with certain speech tones and rhythms.

According to linguist Andrew Linn, the perfect male voice combines both Jeremy Irons and Alan Rickman. Linn said Irons’ “deep gravely tones” inspire trust.

While for women, a mixture including Dame Judi Dench and journalist Mariella Frostrup’s was proposed. Frostrup’s voice is liked because it is deep, slow and confident.

With this in mind, how much do you think communication patterns affect the way you do business with suppliers?

Do some vendors inspire trust, simply in the tone of their voice?

One Response to “Hearing voices”

  1. If this is true, and I have no doubt that it is, how does one go about changing the tone of one’s voice?
