In the recent issue of SM Emma Crichton, business manager at Capita Interim Management, discusses the difference between good interims and the downright greedy ones.

She says in the past it was not uncommon she received calls from an interim at 8am on a Monday morning threatening not to start their booking unless she added £100 per day to their rate. Others would pull out at short notice and many would not see a contract through to completion as another role would tempt them away – for a higher rate.

Good candidates on the other hand offer sound procurement expertise gained through years of working in the field, negotiate their rate at offer stage and cease to interview for other companies once they accept a role.

What is your experience of interim staff?

How do you distinct between good and bad ones?
