These include extra law coverage, more features and greater input from stakeholders. We have also condensed the news section to a digest of recent stories from the SM website. First issues of new or re-launched magazines tend towards a big splash cover story and I hope we have achieved that with our survey (click here to read it). A total of 2,406 of you took the time to complete the questions, so thank you all very much.
The findings give a comprehensive snapshot of buyers, their jobs, suppliers and stakeholders in March 2011. You can see how your role compares with the average in terms of hours worked, route in to the profession and internal reporting structure. And it reveals what you think of the profession.
What may not come as a surprise to you is that most buyers have in the past few years seen their workload increase. And this has coincided with a reduction in staff numbers to carry out these additional tasks – the classic “doing more with less”.
And as most of the survey respondents expect this trend to increase further over the next two years, this may shift to “doing even more with less”. This may seem like a negative, but this new reality has been good for the profession, with nearly three-quarters of buyers reporting a rise in their profile. And these additional responsibilities often include influence over greater spend.
