Pizza pie in the sky
You may have spotted the recent claims that Domino’s Pizza “plans” to build a branch on the moon.
With the help of construction company Maeda Corp, the Japanese arm of the fast food chain has estimated the cost to be ¥1.67 trillion (£13.8 billion), around a third of which would be spent on transporting the construction materials and equipment to the moon on 15 rockets.
To reduce these costs slightly, the company said it would use minerals from the moon to produce concrete, rather than transporting it all the way there (good to see a bit of local sourcing where possible).
While this is ultimately a publicity stunt, I like the company’s ambition. It tells potential employees, customers and rivals that it is thinking about the future. It’s a little bit of fun during this grim economic period that gives staff something to take pride in.
The idea may be a little crazy, but if it boosts morale it will be worth it.

The idea contradicts any morale rooted in social corporate responsibility land, stands against any good use of financial and human resources and makes only sense outside Earthly reality zone.
Renata – are you related to the great Felix CHAN?
It is said that Domino’s has been promising my town for the past two years to open up a branch. Let’s hope they can do better with this venture.
No, but according to my Great Grandma, I am the Great! You will obviously have to take her word for it!
Best wishes
Renata
Maybe not such a bad idea after all, remember that Wallace and Grommit in their ‘Great Adventure’ already proved the moon was made of tasty cheese, so that’s one important ingredient for their pizza’s that is easily available. And then there’s the possibility of The ‘Clangers’ as their service staff, since they already live on the moon ? And wasn’t there a resident ‘Soup dragon’…..? (Showing my age I know..::))
mmmm! Pizza on the moon – out of this world! I hope they can still make deliveries in under a half hour or I’ll demand my money back!
